The only safe image website to get images for your social media and business.
When you’re thinking of bulletproofing your social media, one thing to think about is the source of the images that you’re using. A lot of people find using free image websites, a good solution, unfortunately, they aren’t. It might be free to download those images but it is not always free to use them. I’ve lost count of the number of clients who’ve used images or free image websites and then receive a letter of demand from Getty images.
For example what happens if someone named Joe, takes an image belonging to Getty images and they put it on a free image website like Pixabay or Unsplash. If you use the image and Getty images comes and sues you, Joe has got no responsibility. You can’t sue him because you don’t know who he is, you don’t know who uploaded that image to Unsplash or to Pixabay. So what happens is that you end up liable for copyright infringement, even though you’ve got it from a website that says it is free to use commercially. If you go into the terms and conditions of any of those sites you will see that they take absolutely no responsibility. They even say, in their terms, if you use our images you may be infringing the copyright of somebody else.
Why do we care? Why are we worried about Getty images? Well, one of the last letters of demand that I saw from Getty images was $1,500 for one image. So do not use a free image website, even with paid image websites, you need to be careful, just like with free image websites some of them take no responsibility. The paid image site that I like to use is called 99CLUB and I will put my affiliate link below, which means I get a tiny little bit of what you pay. The reason I like 99CLUB is because they actually guarantee copyright in their images. They guarantee you will not be sued for copyright infringement, and on top of that, they say if we are wrong, and one of the one of the images slipped through the net and we didn’t know it was owned by somebody else, we will pay up to $10,000 for a claim that’s made against you. They also will get their legal department to run the legal case for you. So you can’t get a better deal than that, 99CLUB is the only image website that I actually believe can be relied on.
