Should I file my TM application now or wait until the fee changes at IP Australia on 10 October 2016?
From 10 October 2016, the IP Australia official fees are changing. The Trade mark registration fee is being reduced to zero from $300 per class, while the trade mark application fee increases from $120 to $250 per class. This is still a saving of $170 per class if you file your Trade Mark application after 10 October . If your Trade Mark is filed before 10 October 2016, you will still need to pay the $300 registration fee per class after your trade mark is accepted, even if registration occurs after 10 October 2016.
I recommend holding off filing a TM application until after 10 October to take advantage of the $170 saving.
