I have agreed with a manufacturer to use his patent. What is the best patent authorization agreement template that I can find?

Using templates is like using someone else’s used toothbrush, only potentially worse.

I see people all the time coming in with off-the-shelf agreements when a dispute arises. They rarely set out the relationship that the parties expected of it and often ends in heartbreak. Why not tailor your agreement to what it is that you have actually agreed?

Rather than recycling someone else’s templated agreement which is drafted with the original relationship in mind, rather get it draft up by a lawyer specialising in IP to fit your specific relationship. It will be worth a lot more in the long run and is much less likely to have an ugly breakdown in the relationship.

Generic templates are not the way to go for a long-lived healthy relationship.
